I've been blessed with a surplus of starting pitching, but much less depth in my positional player group. I'm a huge Greg Bird fan, and after ranking near the bottom of the league in stolen bases this year, Tilson should add some speed to my lineup. With Harper and Stanton both out of my outfield this coming year, and Zimmerman still potentially on the move, the deal also gives my a 1B and an outfielder I can plug in plug in right away next season while also giving me the necessary cap space to go replace Hendricks in a flash. I have very little in the way of roster flexibility right now because of how thin my talent is, and this move takes a step towards addressing that.

Ethier and Espinosa's contracts balance out salaries.

Rockies confirm. I didn't think I could find a starting pitcher of Hendricks caliber on the market this off-season to keep my rotation where it needs to be, so this was a necessary move. I move on from some players I've been waiting on to make a big impact in the majors for awhile, and I'll have to find out how they do in Baltimore. Thanks for the talks, Mike!
