Orioles trades:
3B Jeimer Candelario $300k OF David Peralta 18: $9M, 19: $9M, 20: $9M SS Pat Valaika 18: $800k (2 of 7) RP Sam Dyson 18: $3M
Detroit trades:
SP Jose Berrios $800k (3 of 7) RP Dellin Betances $6.6M (5 of 7 - Type A)
The Tigers add Candelario, who was a Top 100 prospect prior to his September call-up with Detroit. He hit 36 doubles along with 15 home runs in AA last year, and followed that up by hitting .330 in his first 27-game cup of coffee with the Tigers this year. He still has rookie eligibility, so the Base Knock Tigers will have Candelario (who is penciled in as Detroit's starting 3B in MLB) for his full 7-year contract, including 3 sub-1M salary years.
The Tigers also add David Peralta, who went for 450 points in 2017, and is locked in for three more years at a reasonable 9M a season. With the amount of pitching depth (and cap space) Detroit has, he leverages some of it to add a pair of controllable offensive weapons to keep pace with the ever-improving AL Central.
Sam Dyson will have some save opportunities as well in 2018, and will be in line for plenty of holds (which are handsomely rewarded in BK scoring system). Valaika will also continue to be a strong bench bat that will help bolster his points total when his starting infielders have off days.
I add another reliable arm to my starting rotation to slot behind Carlos Carrasco, and upgrade my set-up position.

Geez. I didn't have to sell that at all! Mike did all the work.
Basically, I get four pieces that can slot into my lineup or provide depth this season for two. We have the pitching depth to do it. I also think Peralta in a fully healthy season hasn't quite reached his heights.
Thanks for the talks, Mike.

Allow. Great trade for the Orioles, while the trade sort of makes sense for the Tigers it's the sort of move that would help push a fan base to dislike their front office.

The usual quantity for quality Orioles trade. I guess I"m just not a fan of teams having to explain why they think their opponent is killing a trade made with them. There's a chance Peralta could be a top 20 outfielder, and for the Tigers sake I hope he is. Candelario hasn't really proved much, definitely could be a great player in the future, nice to have him for 7 years in the majors potentially. Does Castellanos get moved back to 3B? Dyson... I just don't see a guy who had an ERA over 6 get save opportunities. In my opinion, it's a win for the Orioles (6-0).
