I like this deal as a win win, in terms of two teams in slightly different competitive positions.

From the Jays perspective, they gain a controllable SP who had a solid debut and slated for a rotation job this year (three years of Spec price SP with Arb after that), and Nelson, who is out for most of year, but will be really inexpensive relative to his potential points in 2019. (Controllable for one year after that too).

Whereas my team is firmly win-now, so gaining a (hopefully) healthy SP at a great price, but for only one year of control, along with a risky upside play in fallen from prospect-dom grace Alex Jackson

Jays accept. Gives me a chance to add two controlled pitchers one in which has shown ace stuff and will be cheap as mentioned. I am not going to compete much this year so this move was made with 2019 in mind and I think puts me in a good spot pitching wise, especially if Nelson comes back fully healthy and ynoa pans out. Worth the risk to find out for me. Thanks for the quick easy deal!
