Orioles GM (Michael), your offer puts you $0.1m over the salary cap. Not sure you were aware of this...?

He seems to have added salary in the Strasburg trade after this bid.

Orioles GM (Michael), your offer puts you $0.1m over the salary cap. Not sure you were aware of this...? Like Will said, I added cap in the Strasburg trade. If that nullifies my bid, I understand. If I'm allowed to cut a player to make space, will take that route.

Couldn’t you just offer 700k?

Needs to be 300k increase or more per bid

Orioles GM (Michael) just cut a player to make the space. You made the bid when you had the cap space. Hope that works for everyone.

2.1 Salary Cap
Because this wasn't official before the trade, this transaction is void, no? I don't think allowing retroactive cuts is an acceptable practice.

I agree, but is there precedence for this that anyone can find? That is what the rules say, just want to make sure we haven't gone the other way before. heads up, Orioles GM (Michael)

I know this issue is over $0.1M, but owner's need to be held accountable for their own budget when they have multiple transactions in play.

And I will voice my opinion if it isn't clear already that I would be against Mike being awarded this bid. If anything, the bidding should be restarted.

I agree with what Astros are saying here. I think bidding should be restarted. Everyone should know what is going on with their cap at all times.

Here's my opinion quick: Mike should not be awarded the player, BUT I think the variable of... if Mike's bid hadn't been there, some other team could have wanted to bid $800k. My proposed solution would be to remove Mike's bid, and give Will the highest bid while starting his clock by at zero. Does that work for both parties? Or is there a better plan? Astros GM (Will), Orioles GM (Michael),

This isn't about me being cheated because I wasn't. It's about upholding the rules regarding over-budget transactions.

This isn't about me being cheated because I wasn't. It's about upholding the rules regarding over-budget transactions. Didn't mean that to sound snarky, was just saying I was happy with whatever.

Will's 48 clock started again when I posted on February 15th at like 6pm. Anyone who wants to top that bid needs to post before then, otherwise we'll just settle this with signing Matt Grace to the Astros.
