Pirates Aaron Judge Issue

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let everyone know the details of something that I've had to clean up a bit.  After acquiring Aaron Judge prior to the start of Week 10, the Pittsburgh Pirates failed to add Aaron Judge to their lineup for Week's 10 and 11.  Max has said it was just forgetfulness, which understandably happens from time to time.  However, if Aaron Judge had been in the lineup, the Pirates would have beaten the San Diego Padres in Week 10 as they lost by just seven points.  Along with this, the Pirates would have had more total points, something that will matter when it comes to the draft order for the 2019 season, as points scored is the tiebreaker.  I've had suggestions from owners that the results of the Padres vs. Pirates game be reversed, however, this is what I've decided to do with this issue instead, as I don't think it's fair to the Padres to enforce something we don't usually pay so close attention to.  

"Ruling" I guess:

1. The Padres and Pirates Week 10 matchup will not have the final result altered.  The final result of that matchup will remain a win for the Padres and a loss for the Pirates. 
2. The Pirates will have the points that Aaron Judge scored since June 4th (the start of Week 10) added to their end of season point total, which is 41 points.  
3. The Pirates will be given a "phantom win" when we put together the 2019 draft order at the end of the season, meaning that I'll increase their win total by one when comparing teams to rank the draft order, but historically the Pirates will not be recorded as having won that game.

The ending result of this is that the other teams hoping for the top overall pick are not feeling cheated out of it by Pittsburgh having one less win then they should.  Along with this, the Padres get to keep the win that they fairly one during that matchup.  

Hope this makes everyone happy.  Please remind me of this when I'm post the 2019 draft order if I miss it, because I'm pretty sure I'll end up forgetting by the end of the season.

I'm going to continue to be hard on Max, because this league runs much better with 100% activity and Max hasn't been contributing his part to this awesome league at times. But you don't just 'forget' to add an MVP player you just acquired. Come on Max, make us excited to have you in this league.

I like the ruling Alex, I think it fairly addresses the situation.

Say whatever you want. But I rarely ever check ESPN because I don’t have to. And I worked with Alex to help resolve this issue. In any event, it’s not “required” that I had Judge in my lineup anyway. Obviously I rather have him in as I do every MLB player on my roster and a draft position isn’t worth my integrity. I’m here quite often, responding to PMs, trying to make moves happen, and being active. I check the ProBoards nearly every day, which is something some people don’t do.

You want to “be hard on me” or accuse me of cheating, which is clear by your quotations around “forget” then we can have a much bigger problem than this, bud. Get off the damn high horse, because if you ever slip up then you sure a hell are going to hear it, and then some.

And don’t tell me I don’t contribute to the league. I’ve been contributing to the league long before you were here, man. Way before anyone else cared. When it looked like this league was destined to shut down, I was one of the people who stepped up to not let it and took on an extra workload with the Master Roster and other things to help this place run smooth and get out of a rut.

Not that you’d care or anything, you’re just focused on a few isolated incidents and trying to call me out. Go use someone else as your stepping stone to be “hero to the masses”. I’m not going anywhere.

Just going to throw this out there...you said it’s not required to have Judge in your lineup. Rule 1.3-3 says otherwise.


#3 | MANAGING ESPN ROSTER - This is essential to being a part of BKDB. You signed up to play fantasy baseball... so set your lineup to give your team the best chance to win. Having teams that don't set lineups makes it unfair to the rest of the league, who wants competitive games for everyone.

99% of the owners in the league (excluding you of course), would agree that having Aaron Judge in your lineup gives you the best chance to win.

I can understand not adding Judge immediately after the trade is finalized however you went over 2 weeks of not adding him. One would assume when you jumped on pro boards you would’ve seen your trade was final and added Judge on ESPN. The major problem is the fact that this effected the Standings. The Pads should have one more loss and one less win. They are part of a group of teams fighting to make the playoffs. Should the Pads make the playoffs by a win or because of tie breaker than your inability to add Judge in a timely manner will have cost another GM a playoff spot.

I was more implying that you didn't care anymore, but as Das said last year sometime, we are all just tapping on the glass to see if Max wants to come out and be the good owner we know he can be.

Making mountains out of mole hills. I side with Max. Yes, he could've done it intentionally. Ok. But, he has no reason to look at ESPN, as he knows his team isn't doing much. It could've been an honest mistake just as much as it could've been done intentionally. You all need to chill.
