Orioles trade:
OF Justin Upton 19: $23M 17.2M salary coverage
D'Backs trade:
SS Gavin Lux $300k 6th Round Rick (ARI - 6.3)
I went into FA looking for guys I could flip for prospects, and I'm a big fan of Lux. The pick is a nice bonus and lets me pick off another player from my MiLB list in the summer.

Accept. I add another mlb piece and help make my team more competitive. I hate giving up Lux but it was needed in order to pick up a good bat.

I like Lux, but I don't see how one spec and a late draft pick is worth J-Up?

I'll abstain because I was into deep talks with Baltimore about Upton. However, I don't think that one prospect is a fair return for a very good player paid down to under $6M - the 6th round pick is pretty negligible in the grand scheme of things here.

Approve. Absolute steal by the Diamondbacks, but the comps are close enough considering it’s just one year of Upton and Lux is a former 1st round pick

Upton's a 30 HR guy, I think even 1 year of him is well worth it. Officially a veto here.

Veto. No way do I think one spec and a 6th round pick is a fair deal for Upton.

Approve. I know Baltimore was shopping Upton having been the recipient of a trade offer. If he got what he wanted out of the deal that is fine by me. It is also only 1 year of Upton. So although it seems a little low, it seems reasonable to me.
