Blue Jays trade: San Diego 5th round Amatuer Draft Pick (5.20) Marlins trade: Dan Straily Type A (6/7) $6.5 Blue Jays accept. Couldn't pass on Straily at this price. I already have a lot of SP depth, but adding Straily helps even more. Plus getting rid of anything San Diego related is a positive in my book! (Trade embargo trolling is fun) Good working with you Travis! Marlins GM (Travis) to confirm

Yeah I'm not sure I see the issue here. 5th round pick is just as much a shot in the dark as Straily is. Although far from a superstar, Straily is the 5th starter on a shitty team, so he has some value, in my opinion. But what do I know, I'm a noob.

Exactly, I think there's a lot of surplus value there even if the player name doesn't excite that much. We have a pretty well established trade market for SP, and even looking at recent free agents (Lance Lynn, Merrill Kelly, Wade LeBlanc auctions), he has a good cost-controlled contract. I think a late amateur pick falls well below this threshold, and we are at least one draft pick away from this being acceptable. Veto.

Astros GM (Will), he's currently not even on their depth chart, whether it be due to injury or what, idk. If anything I feel this is an overpay or just the right amount.

Bartolo went for a 5th rounder last year... not much difference in my opinion.

Bartolo went for a 5th rounder last year... not much difference in my opinion. While I disagree with this, it's not a big deal, just had to defend my veto on the trade.

A 5th for a SP that has a history of at least eating innings isn’t a fair swap 99% of the year in this league. However Travis is shedding the contract in the middle of FA and can use that cap now.

I'm going to agree with Will here. This will already pass as it's 8-1, but this doesn't add up for a player with two years of control left. He's made 20+ starts in three straight seasons. The fact that he's on a bad team probably increases the likelihood he'll pitch regularly again this season. Veto. Fantastic get for the Blue Jays when this likely goes through. Nice work man.

You know I think Alex and will make good points. The way starters are valued in this league makes him with a lot more than what is going back. 45 year old Barolo with a 5.5 era got a 5th rounder. I'm going to change my vote to a veto. (Also didn't realize Straily has another year of control)

Veto. Specs are one thing as they haven’t proven anything, but mlb contributors who put up points are another. He’s worth more than this

Veto. Straily is a solid starter and has pretty decent value in this league. A 5th round pick for an established MLB starter is not enough.
