Atlanta receives:
MIL 2020 2nd Gerardo Carrillo (spec)
Milwaukee receives:
Matt Carpenter, $26m, option for next 75% reimbursement this year only
From my perspective, this is a bet that Carp rebounds from being hurt and ineffective so far this year. Nice dealing Jared.

I'm gonna throw one of my rare vetos on this one. Carpenter has battled injuries all year. He's a 25HR guy when healthy, as his track record has shown. 34 years old means he isn't completely past his prime. I think he's worth more than a bag of peanuts, which is what we have here.

Carpenter is on an expiring contract and a B Comp pick player. Jared is out of the playoffs and is getting a pick better then the B comp and a spec. Not sure how that equates to a bag of peanuts.

You basically validated my point. Brewers are 5th in points. Their pick will only move them up a couple spots at best, so now the trading of the pick is a wash, meaning this trade is Carillo for Carpenter. Carillo has value, sure. Not Carpenter value. And just because Atl can't use him doesn't mean the Brewers should get him for far less than he's worth. But hell, idc. Doesn't mean shit to me here in Miami.

The Trade Deadline is today and your thought is Jared should hold onto Carpenter and take the comp pick which is less then what he’s getting here because you personally feel Carpenter should be worth more despite the fact Jared clearly hasn’t got a better offer?

A playoff contender just got an impact bat... for Carrillo? That's an additional 15-25 points (averages 2.9pts) a week in playoffs for a contender. Sure, Atl got what they could. A playoff contender should have to pay more than a spec struggling at high A ball this year for 15-25pts in playoffs.

Well every other contender could’ve offered Jared more. That’s how the trade market works. The fact is Jared took Tim’s deal because that was the best deal on the table with a deadline approaching.
