Rays trade:
1B Freddie Freeman ($26M of $35M covered in 2020 & 2021)
Nationals trade:
Pick 1.4 Pick 5.2 Brice Turang (spec) Matthew Allan (spec) Marcus Smith (spec)
Rays accept. Freeman has been gathering dust on my team for awhile now, and I figured he probably has as much value now as he's gonna have. I get an early first rounder & some dank prospects in return, which should help with my rebuild. Thanks to Tim for the negotiations in my first trade of 2020!

I accept. This is my “All In” move for 2020. I know I’ve still got some holes on my squad but this is a big ass addition. I hate shipping out the 4th overall pick as I know it’s extremely valuable. Turang was one of my favorite specs too. But I’ve had a successful offseason and it’s time to push in the chips.

Veto
Freeman is one of the best players in the league, the rare 700 point club, and this is two years of massive reimbursement.
Basically this is barely enough for one year of reimbursement. The 2nd year of full year of reimbursement pushes it way into veto territory.

Approve. While I think it’s a bit of a lopsided trade, no collusion here so no reason to veto.

Approve. As much as I want to lean toward veto because of how much Tim is making Alex cover, that pick 1.4 is pretty much the same as a high end prospect. Also, Tim told me he would trade me Turang in an Encarnacion deal with me, so I am mad at him.

I mean I'm definitely less confident in my return after seeing some of these comments, but it's not like I've gotten a better offer for Freeman. I guess this is why I don't make a lot of trades anymore.

I agree with Tim on this one because of the cap coverage. Veto.

I'm going to vote to allow the trade. I don't think this is a completely outlandish trade, while I do see Nationals as the clear winner. I don't think there is any collusion going on. That's really all we should evaluate when voting on trades.

Veto. Considering what other teams need to give up in order to get that sort of cap coverage and talent, this has to be a veto in order to keep the league fair, collusion or not. This is a bad trade for the Rays and the league.

Hard Veto. Freeman is worth a top 100 spec, probably 2 depending on where they are ranked. 700 point guy for pick 1.4, and pieces? Plus coverage? Turang is only other spec I'd say has to be in the deal, but I could live without him, as all he does is steal bases. I see this as Freeman for pick 1.4. Not even close.
