Per Alex,
We will be moving forward with amending our position eligibility thresholds for the 2021 season. These thresholds apply to games played in the 2020 season. Eligibility thresholds gained during the actual 2021 season will remain unchanged.
The current rules is as follows:
To be eligible for a certain position, a position player must have played 20 games at that position the previous season or 10 games at that position in the current season. A starting pitcher must have started 5 games in the previous season or 3 games in the current season. A relief pitcher must have appeared in 8 games in the previous season or 5 games in the current season.
The rule is amended to reflect the following changes for the 2021 season only:
To gain SP eligibility for 2021, a pitcher must have made 2 starts in 2020 (down from 5)
To gain RP eligibility for 2021, a pitcher must have made 3 relief appearances in 2020 (down from 8)
To gain position eligibility for 2021, a hitter must have made 7 appearances in 2020(down from 20)
Eligibility thresholds gained during the actual 2021 season will remain unchanged.
