Accept.
I really really like Gonsolin and his upside. The guy has been great since making the majors. I’m sure I’ll look back and regret not having him but I’m giving my team the best chance to win now. Great trade discussion Sean!

Was Ryu's future comp pick considered in this trade?

And if he gets hurt or struggles then there is no comp pick.

Dude, Sean. You're going to most likely give that second round pick at minimum right back to Kyle in the form of a COMP B pick. So just want to confirm that you like Gonsolin, who just had a concerning injury prognosis to give, enough to give Kyle a Cy Young winner and another mid rotation starter for multiple seasons. As of now, I'm a veto unless I hear from Sean a better reason. This is no different than my Darvish trade that was just vetoed, especially with Gonsolin being hurt and another reliable starting pitcher in the trade.

Was Ryu's future comp pick considered in this trade? Ryu isn’t eligible for a comp pick as of right now. Neither was Darvish. I say that because that was used against Alex in the veto of the Darvish deal. I am going to be a veto here. 3 years of a cost controlled starting pitcher plus the remainder of this season for an ace who, in all likelihood, will at least earn a Comp B pick, if not a comp A. That trade would equate to a cancelling out of the draft picks being exchanged. So now the rest of the deal would be the remainder of Ryu’s production this season plus Pineda for Gonsolin on a spec deal. The story I read yesterday says he (Gonsolin) hasn’t even started throwing yet and any shoulder/arm injury must be taken into consideration when looking at the value of the players being exchanged. I think that gives him some major bullpen risk. I’d like to see another spec (45 FV range) added to the deal for me to approve.

This is a good move for me regardless of the comp pick I’m not worried about the gonslin injury his long term appeal is still vary high to me especially still on his milb contract

As someone who was looking to get Ryu I will abstain from voting. However, have no problem saying my offer definitely wouldn’t be getting vetoed 🤷🏼♂️

Veto. For the "Ryu may not be eligible for a comp pick" argument to be plausible, you basically have to believe no player is worth anything because any player can just suck at any second. Baseball nihilism isn't how we assess deals here.
