Offseason Schedule

Here are a few of the things to consider regarding future offseason’s.

Obviously we have pushed this years draft to October and we will be using 2021 standings to determine the 2021 draft order. Do these draft picks ‘lock’ with regards to trading them when the 2022 picks become available on July 18?

Will we be making roster decisions before or after the draft begins? If it’s after, then a friendly reminder to all teams to keep enough cap space available for draft picks. I assume roster decisions would be done AFTER the draft as we’ve done in previous years, but just looking for a yes or no in either direction.

I’ve scoured the interwebs and I can’t find any dates for when the 2022 draft will happen, but I vaguely recall hearing July. Again, I can’t find a confirmed date. One post Alex made stated the 2022 draft will be in September 2022 (though this probably needs to be pushed to October), are we using 2022 standings to determine 2022 order ?

I used Alex’s template for this years off-season schedule as a potential guide for 2021’s offseason and beyond if we advance contracts AFTER the draft

Off-season Schedule:
October 4 - Finalize draft order and begin 2021 Amateur Draft
October 15 - Trading Opens
Nov 15 - Trading Closes
Nov 24 - Roster Decisions Due/Rosters turned over to next season
Dec 1 - MiLB draft begins (unless J2 signing is pushed back again)
Jan 1 - Start of Free Agency
Feb 1 - Potential start of MiLB draft if J2 signing period is pushed back
Apr 1 - Start Season
June - Annual BK Conference at Kyle’s pool

Yes. We decided in the off-season that the Amateur Draft will be following the World Series. Let's do October 4th, that sounds good.

Also, yes. As in years past, the 2021 picks lock when the 2022 picks become available. I'm fine working out a new solution for the future, but this is the precedent. 2021 picks won't be able to be traded from July 18-Oct 4 when the 2021 Draft occurs.

Schedule looks good otherwise.
