I should have been able to talk myself into selecting a less risky and higher ranked prospect. Hans Crouse would have been my selection, but no Alex had to select him, I know I should be used to such things, but Alex continues to select players I'm targeting every draft, usually 3 or 4 times a draft. With the way the draft is going, Gavin Sheets might have been available when my next pick rolls around. However, middle of the order bats aren't easy as checking the box score. The concern is that if Sheets doesn't hit, he becomes just another power hitting AAAA 1B. His swing is a bit long, so there is a risk of him not being able to catch up to plus-plus fastballs, but I don't buy it, I think he has the strength and ability to adjust in the batters box, which is reflected in his strike out rates (it will be something I will be keeping my eye on as he develops). You're welcome. That's one of my favorite parts about drafting.

I was holding my breath on this one, happy to be adding LHP Ranger Suarez into the mix. My draft board did not like those 18 picks in between, if it could have gone worse, it couldn't have been much worse. Jorge Guzman was pick had Suarez been selected, but the Angels made sure to draft Guzman and his 80 grade fastball ahead of me, nice pick. There were more than a few players selected that I was considering with this pick, but obviously they can't all fall into my lap. I have my eye on three players for my next pick, but not so sure they will still be there when my next pick rolls around since I see who is picking. However, there is still so much talent available, it's hard not to find a prospect of interest. Best of luck with your picks.

who is in charge of processing things like the draft, or trades? I had been put in charge of processing trades while Alex is gone, though we didn't really discuss the draft. I'll see if I can try and get to processing the draft as much as possible this weekend

ok i was just wondering, it seems like Alex tries to keep updating the available players list and marking of draft picks which i found helpful so i wondered if there would be someone doing that since he was gone.

The Giants have closed out their 3rd round with RHP Kyle Cody who seems to be newest breakout pitcher in the minors, I thought about burning a draft pick on a rookie that was playing today, since the playoffs start. Draft picks are just so expensive and the thought of burning the pick just to get a few points wasn't enough incentive, now if I lose by the amount of points that I would have scored, it will be easy enough to adjust next season. Besides, I just burned one on Trevor Hildenberger who I selected early because he had a double header scheduled today and was still on my big board of draft targets, so hopefully he scores me some points. Overall, I liked this round LHP Ranger Suarez, 2B Esteury Ruiz, RP Trevor Hildenberger, and RHP Kyle Cody even though I don't really like the Hildenberger pick this early. Sort of feels like I'm giving away a prospect that I like, being that the Angels are about to select someone from my short list and I have no doubt the Mariners are going to select a few of my targets with their 4 picks in the early goings of the 4th Round. I'll cross my fingers and wish everyone luck with their picks, still plenty of talented players to be selected.

The Giants were able to finish out their 4th Round with 4 pretty decent selections. Started with Trevor Stephan, who I'm crossing my fingers for as this years Mitchell White. Then went and added another Cuban in Jose Israel Garcia, couldn't find much way in terms of video to scout him, but there are reports of him being, Manny Machado lite. Wilmer Font is a guy that has seemingly found new life and has done very well for himself in AAA. Alex Wells is another reach, since there are higher ranked pitchers still available, Wells command is impressive and his numbers have been really nice this season. I'd give myself a C+ for this round, since Font isn't ranked, Wells is more of a project, Garcia is a wild card, and Stephan isn't exactly thought of as top prospect, yet. I'm down to only 7 picks remaining, still have more than a few targets, plus I have the pop-up guys that I'd to select as well, then there is always the prospects that I keep passing on that are available that would make great trade bait. Best of luck to all of you, so grateful for the distraction of fantasy baseball, hope you get the target your after.

Pretty pumped for the 5th round selection of Juan Minaya. He might hang onto the closer job long term, but should definitely help the playoff push! Especially with Jim Johnson forgetting how to pitch the last couple months.
